The stone bridge over the Ebro that links the historic centre to the north bank — some 225 metres of seven arches, begun in 1401 and completed around 1440. Nicknamed the Puente de los Leones for the four bronze lions (the city's emblem) added in 1991, it offers the postcard view of Zaragoza: the Basílica del Pilar's domes rising behind the water. A 1643 flood took out two central arches; they were rebuilt, and the bridge has carried the city ever since.
