Pouring since 1827 in the Barrio de las Letras — one of Madrid's oldest taverns, with a zinc-topped bar where the vermouth comes straight from the tap and the rabo de toro (oxtail) has been the house argument for generations. Cervantes is said to have lived across the street; the tavern has outlasted every fashion that has passed its door since.
