Prague rooftops with spires and astronomical clock tower

Žižkov TV Tower

modern·Žižkov

A futurist tower rising over the Žižkov district — a 1980s communications mast made unforgettable by David Černý's giant sculptures of faceless babies crawling up its legs, a subversive addition that turned a contested structure into a beloved oddity. The observation deck offers some of the broadest views over Prague's spires. Long voted both ugly and iconic, it splits opinion exactly as Černý intended. For visitors, it's worth the trip out from the center: the crawling babies are pure Prague surrealism, and the panorama from the top puts the whole red-roofed city, and its more famous towers, in perspective.
