A five-star belle-époque landmark on Plaza del Castillo and, since 1881, Pamplona's most storied address — fully renovated in 2007 while keeping its history intact. Suite 201 is dedicated to Ernest Hemingway, who stayed here during the fiesta; other suites honour Chaplin, Orson Welles and the violinist Sarasate. Its 44 exterior rooms with balconies over the square and Calle Estafeta put guests directly above the encierro route.

Insider Intel
A balcony room over Plaza del Castillo or Calle Estafeta — during San Fermín those balconies overlook the bull run itself and are the most coveted beds in the city.
Any time for the location and history; San Fermín (early July) for the once-in-a-lifetime encierro-view balconies, booked far in advance.
A five-star landmark, open since 1881 and renovated in 2007. The literary suites (Hemingway's 201 above all) are a genuine draw. Balcony rooms are limited and command a premium, especially during the fiesta.
