Insider Intel
Enter from the top (Ekebergrestauranten) and walk down through the forest paths. The sculptures are integrated into the landscape — you discover them as you walk. The viewpoint over the Opera and Bjørvika is near the Bourgeois spider. Finish at the lower entrance near Sjømannsskolen tram stop.
Afternoon for the eastward views with the sun behind you. Summer for full forest canopy. Autumn for colour. The park is open year-round but paths can be icy in winter.
The park opened in 2013, funded by real estate developer Christian Ringnes. The sculpture collection includes works from Rodin to contemporary names. Munch painted his famous view for The Scream from Ekeberg — there is a Munch viewpoint marked in the park. Free entry, always open. Ekebergrestauranten at the top is Michelin-listed if you want to extend the visit with dinner.
