Camden's Britpop pub, canal-side and unpretentious, where Amy Winehouse and half of 1990s indie London drank between gigs — burned down in the 2008 Camden fire and rebuilt by popular demand, because the neighbourhood would not let it stay closed. Ordinary on paper (beer, pub food, a beer garden by the water), extraordinary in what it has witnessed. Still a proper local, not a shrine.

Order This
A pint in the canal-side beer garden — the pub itself is the destination, not any particular dish.
Best Time
Sunny afternoons for the beer garden; any evening for the ordinary pub version of extraordinary history.
Know Before You Go
A Britpop-era Camden institution on the canal, rebuilt after a 2008 fire. Come for a pint and the canal-side garden, not for reverence.
