Lisbon golden hour with vintage tram climbing through Alfama and terracotta rooftops

Park Bar

A rooftop bar built on top of a parking garage in Bairro Alto, which sounds unpromising until you climb the concrete stairs past the parked cars and emerge onto a terrace with one of the widest sunset panoramas in the city — the Tejo river, the 25 de Abril bridge, Cristo Rei, and the rooftops of Lisbon all laid out below. The vegetation is lush, the furniture is mismatched, and the whole operation has the improvised quality of something that was never meant to be permanent but became essential.

Insider Intel

Order This

Cocktails are simple but serviceable — a gin tonica with Portuguese gin, a mojito, a caipirinha. The sangria is better than it should be for a rooftop bar. Beer (Super Bock or Sagres on tap) is the honest choice. Do not expect craft cocktail precision; this is a view bar that happens to serve drinks competently.

Best Time

Arrive 90 minutes before sunset to claim a seat with a river view and watch the light change across the city. Summer sunsets around 8:30-9pm mean arriving by 7pm. The bar opens in the afternoon and stays open late, but the sunset window is the entire reason to come. Weekday sunsets are less competitive for seating.

Know Before You Go

The entrance is through a parking garage on Calcada do Combro — take the elevator or stairs to the top floor, then walk up one more level. It is deliberately hard to find and the signage is minimal, which is part of the charm. The rooftop is outdoors and partially covered, which means it closes or becomes uncomfortable in rain. Weekends after sunset are packed and loud. Prices are elevated for Lisbon but standard for rooftop bars. Card accepted.
