Insider Intel
Go mid-morning when the market is in full swing. Buy jamón and cheese at the counter stalls, then sit at one of the market bars for seafood tapas and a cold beer. The fish selection is excellent. Walk through even if you are not buying — the energy and the local interactions are the point.
Morning between 10am-1pm when vendors and shoppers are most active. The market closes by mid-afternoon. Avoid Sundays when it is closed.
Built in 2005 on the site of the Castillo de San Jorge, which served as Inquisition headquarters from 1481-1785. Archaeological remains are visible beneath glass panels inside. Triana is historically Sevilla's working-class, flamenco, and ceramic-producing neighborhood — the market remains a genuine local institution. Unlike the touristy stalls in Santa Cruz, this is where Sevillanos shop. Combine with a walk across the Isabel II bridge and ceramic shopping on Calle San Jacinto.
