Battersea Power Station

Regenerated riverside icon with control-room cocktails and skyline views.

Battersea Power Station is industrial drama reborn. The brick colossus on the Thames now holds shops, restaurants, and a control-room bar set among restored dials and switches. Outside, the riverside promenade curves under the chimneys with views toward Chelsea and the City.

Architecturally, it’s a lesson in retrofit: glass lifts, new apartments, heritage bricks cleaned but not erased. Grab a cocktail where engineers once managed turbines, then wander to Circus West Village for riverside dining or coffee. The new Tube stop makes it easy, the river boats add charm, and Battersea Park nearby offers a green escape with lakes and Victorian glasshouses.

It’s polished but still carries the echo of power humming behind the walls, especially when the chimneys catch sunset light.
