This plaza terrace bar has no particular claim to excellence except that it's perfectly positioned on one of Ciutat Vella's prettiest squares, serves cold beer cheaply, and doesn't try to be anything else. Students, locals, tourists — everyone ends up here eventually because the real estate is prime and the prices haven't caught up. Order a Clara (beer with lemon) and watch the plaza life unfold. Sometimes mediocrity in the right location beats excellence in the wrong one.

Whatever's cold and cheap. Clara if it's hot, cerveza if it's not. They serve food but you can do better nearby.
Late afternoon when the square is active but not chaotic. Avoid meal times if you're eating elsewhere — this is a drinks stop.
Service is indifferent. You're paying for the location, not the experience. Cash speeds things up.
