A jazz cave in a genuine 16th-century cellar — Le Caveau de la Huchette has staged live music nightly since 1946, in vaulted stone rooms that have seen the whole arc of postwar Paris jazz. The swing dancing is real and the room is the real thing; an entry fee includes the music. Order whatever keeps you moving, a beer or a wine, because the night is about the band and the cellar, not the bar list. Most nights work, but go when the band is hot and the vaults are packed. It is one of the last authentic jazz caves left in the city.
