Florence panorama with Duomo dome at golden hour

Loggia dei Lanzi

civic·Centro Storico

An open-air sculpture gallery on the Piazza della Signoria — Gothic arches sheltering Renaissance masterworks including Cellini's bronze Perseus holding the head of Medusa, all free to view in the open air. Effectively a public museum without walls, it has displayed sculpture beside the Palazzo Vecchio for centuries, its arches also framing some of the best views of the square. For visitors, it's one of Florence's great democratic pleasures: world-class sculpture standing in the open, where you can study the Perseus and the other figures up close without a ticket or a queue.
